REVIEW: Solace In The Shadows - The Screaming To Survive Red Candle Records, 2004
7.5/10
Solace In The Shadows - The Screaming To Survive - cover art So..... ya like Dissection? You just might like this, then. They're like a cleaner sounding, non-satanic Dissection. Everything here is solid melodic black / death metal. Nothing to really complain about, really. Maybe the songs tend to lose your attention after a little while, but that's it. So, why the 7.5, and not a higher score? Well, while they don't do anything outright wrong, and overall the EP is a very enjoyable one, you just get the feeling that the songs could be stronger. They tend to lose their punch after awhile. Be it the same trick used again and again or little interludes that don't go anywhere.

Overall, worth looking for, but don't expect anything groundbreaking or mindblowing. Just decent melodic death / black metal.
