REVIEW: Spellcraft - The Fragile Existence Of Artistic Expression Self-financed, 2002
6/10
Spellcraft - The Fragile Existence Of Artistic Expression - cover art Listening to this 7 song CD, you'd never guess that the one man behind it all came from Alabama. There's an edge to some of this melodic black / thrash, and at other times things get fairly dull. The vocals remind me of Canada's Quo Vadis, and some songs have that robotic effect which Cynic used to use. With a drum machine, the sound is always going to be pretty bad, though I think some more creativity in this department could liven up the sections which drag. The back of the booklet says that "Your Blessings I Do Not want". Fine. My synopsis is that Spellcraft is decent, but a little unassuming. Variety and conviction would take this type of thing a lot farther.
