Well, now this is not so new, but it would be a mistake to leave it unreviewed. After the previous albums ‘Some Wounds Bleed Forever’ and ‘Slovenska Krv’ this comes as another step in attempt to restore pagan Serb values into this forsaken land. Probably raw Black Metal is the best tool for this work! Zakon Velesa (The Law of Veles) consist of 6 songs, all in the primitive, raw Black Metal vein, without any compromise. Album blasts off with great intensity and in painful screams. Then, severity is kept throughout the whole album, with minor breaks for listeners to catch their breath. Don’t get me wrong, this is not Marduk from the "Panzer Division" album, but doesn’t lack intensity, even without a drummer plugged into high voltage. Although The Stone prefer their music to sound primitive and barbaric they don’t strip it barren of artsy values such as good guitar work with nice melodies and rich riffing. Here you will not find plain, monotonous three riffs punk stuff. Also, characteristic vocals of Nefas and drumming skills of new full time member Aksinomantijan are rounding this release on high standards. Lyrics are again in Serbian and that is a pity because all non-Serbian folk won’t be able to read great pagan poetry from Nefas. Production is good, a little bit dungeon styled on purpose, but it suits music well. It is a real waste that Solistitium is not putting more (any, actually) effort to promote this talented band. A must for all lovers of raw BM! “Songs of Blood, Hymns of Freedom!”
