The young Esbjerg based death / thrash metal act Submission is proof of a vivid Danish metal scene at the moment. Having formed in 2003 they recived the "Best demo" award at the Danish metal awards the following year and now they are about to release their debut full-length "Failure To Perfection" via the French label Listenable Records. The final result is tight and intense in the true Scandinavian spirit but what is most striking is the high maturity level that the band displays with this album. If may well be their first official outing but it does not sound like it. The song writing is solid and a great deal of thought has been put into the music. Even though they have not been around for very long yet they seem to know where they want to go. Each song of the album follows logically upon the previous one, providing a coherent impression that promises a healthy position in contemporary metal. Even though they carry the weight of stylistic forerunners such as Soilwork and Darkane there is something fresh and exciting about this releases which makes me enjoy it quite a bit. Submission follow a somewhat straighter path and tend to avoid the more chaotic elements most of the time. There is plenty of energy and aggression to fuel a certain amount of headbanging but the music is also melodic and a couple of songs ("Darkened Eyes" and "Introspective Thoughts") features very nice clean vocal melodies. "Failure To Perfection" catapults Submission off to a very good start.
