As soon as you press play, “Infecting the Crypts” erupts and tears through your speakers. From start to finish, “Human Waste” is heavy fucking metal! This is Suffocation and without a doubt the band is one of, if not THE best, death metal bands of all time. Frank Mullen’s gurgling acidic vocals roar as this beast known as Suffocation pummel through with monstrous double bass drums, sick complex guitar rhythms, and earth shaking bass licks. These guys are sadistic. Back when death metal was something to be afraid of, “Human Waste” was nothing short of being a masterpiece. Enough said. Perfectly composed and executed. Suffocation never sounded as raw and intense as heard here. Six songs are hardly contained within this first ever release for Relapse Records. “Infecting the Crypts” is probably the heaviest songs I’ve ever heard. It’s far more violent than the re-recorded version the band released on “EFFIGY OF THE FORGOTTEN”. The overall atmosphere of this EP feels as if it was recorded in the dark depths of hell. Strangely enough, the final song “Human Waste” is a demo version. Odd, since the EP is titled after this song. It doesn’t have the same production as the rest of the tracks offered, but it still shreds through with Suffocation's brand of New York styled thrashing grind / death metal. For a demo song it fucking slays A must-have for every extreme metal friend. Definitely Frank Mullen’s best vocal attack to this very day. 9.5 because it’s too short!!
