REVIEW: Suicidal Seduction - Guilty On All Counts Ominous Recordings, 2005
7/10
Suicidal Seduction - Guilty On All Counts - cover art Ominous Recordings is a label that name-wise would suit the Swedish band Suicidal Seduction very well. Their music is all but joyful and it breathes both violence and aggression as well as straight out angst. After all, what could one expect from a band name such as that? After a rather unfortunate time spent working with a fledging American label they were left without shelter once again before teaming up with the young Swedish label Ominous Recordings who have announced that Suicidal Seduction is probably the only death metal band they will ever sign. The four songs that are featured on this mini album are all in the brutal death metal vein with intense guitar work and drumming accompanied by dark guttural growling, far from typical melodeath but not going to extremes such as Severe Torture or certain American bands. On top of this, the production is quite impressive thanks to the support of Marduk's returning bassist Magnus "Devo" Andersson and his Endarker studio. Despite dwelling in the wasteland of brutal death metal, Suicidal Seduction are not scared to death of sounding catchy, a catchiness that shines through particularly clear in the two closing tracks "A Judge And Executioner" and "Beyond Flesh". Fans of Vader, Vomitory and early Edge Of Sanity are likely to find the putrid stench of "Guilty On All Counts" highly agreeable. Ominous, suicidal and seductive death metal?
