REVIEW: Sundusk - As The Soldiers Pride Rebirth Self-financed, 2001
5/10
Sundusk - As The Soldiers Pride Rebirth - cover art Sundusk is a band from Barcelona, Spain, playing mid-paced black metal with keyboard arrangements and scary vocals from some desolate and dark abyss. This is really a mini-mini CD and with only 3 songs and 8 minutes of music it´s hard to form a fair opinion on what Sundusk is capable of achieving. The hardcore black metal fan might not find anything wrong with the music but to me it sounds a little bit too generic and conventional to become really interesting. The first track is a rather simple straight-forward song with the inspiration mainly from the Norwegian school. The second one actually has some nice melodies and is quite nice but the third and final track is not really a full song and one can´t help but wonder what it´s doing on the album? The music is ok and nothing more but since there are only two real songs on the album it´s a bit difficult to rate it properly. If you are really into black metal and want to check out what the Spanish scene has to offer you might want to take a look at Sundusk but otherwise there are a hundred other bands more worthy of your attention.
