REVIEW: Sunseth Sphere - Storm Before Silence Hammerheart Records, 2001
7.5/10
Sunseth Sphere - Storm Before Silence - cover art Not very long ago I reviewed a promo sampler from Hammerheart Records where this new Hungarian band called Sunseth Sphere was featured with one track from their upcoming debut album. Now their album is ready to hit the streets around the world and I notice that I wasn't wrong when predicting a bright future for them. With a world class female vocalist named Kyrah, very melodic yet heavy metal riffs similar to The Gathering but not as monotonous and an ancient Egyptian lyrical concept they could not possibly go wrong. They know what they are doing and there is no other band in the world right now who sounds like they do. Even though this is definitely a metal album there are also psychedelic influences as shown on the opening track entitled L.S.D. I have to admit that this is the first Hungarian band I've heard except for the black metal legends Tormentor but it seems like Eastern Europe has lots of hidden talents waiting to be discovered. I know that the American label Dark Symphonies also recently signed a new Hungarian darkwave band. If you enjoy slower melodic metal and pure female vocals this is something for you. The cover artwork was created by Niklas Sundin of Dark Tranquillity.
