REVIEW: Suppository - Punching Out Reality Forensick Music, 2002
7/10
Suppository - Punching Out Reality - cover art Suppository is a Dutch band that formed in 1992 by two young men who wanted to make some noise in this world. After several line-up changes and a split album release with fellow countrymen and grindcore legends Agathocles they have now signed a deal with the Czech label Forensick Music for the release of "Punching Out Reality", an album filled with 18 intense tracks of Regurgitate / Nasum inspired grindcore of high quality and with a sane sense of humor. Sometimes I also smell a little bit of Pig Destroyer here as well, one of the best grindcore bands on this planet right now. Suppository plays more metal influenced grindcore, not as fast and grinding as many of their colleague. The result is a more powerful and heavier sound that should appeal not only to the general grindcore fan. The vocals range from devilish dark growls to the usual unearthly grindcore screams. If not entirely original this is still a high quality release featuring sharp production, well executed music and nice atmosphere enhancing samples that let you rest your ears for a second or two in the middle of the furious frenzy that is "Punching Out Reality". It dies a little towards the end (and so do humans...) but I would still like to recommend this release to fans of the genre.
