Svartus Kråkus Satanicus is a band who apparently take not being serious seriously. They started out late last year (2003) and have now finished the work on this five track demo (four if you exclude the intro of course). "Cantus Ab Anus Diaboli" is Latin as you probably can tell and it means nothing less than "Songs From The Arse Of Satan". That should tell you everything about this project. Svartus Kråkus Satanicus is kind of a parody on black metal in a similar way as their fellow countrymen Sportlov. The only difference is that Sportlov is a band that consists of professional and experienced metal musicians. Svartus Kråkus Satanicus is far less serious and the demo was recorded with simple home equipment, resulting in a sound quality not far from horrible. The guitar riffs are simple albeit sometimes quite alright, the drum beat mostly constant and the vocals seem like a futile attempt at imitating anguished black metal screams. Some of these flaws could have been adjusted in a real studio environment but right now the only thing which lift this demo out of complete misery is the lyrical concept which is kind of fun, if you know Swedish that is.
