REVIEW: Swallow The Sun - The Morning Never Came Firebox Records, 2003
8/10
Swallow The Sun - The Morning Never Came - cover art The first track begins with a slow and mellow melody followed by drums and guitar, all in harmony. Then the growling begins and I think that this shall be interesting. The feeling I get right now is that this band is guite like My Dying Bride, but this just the first track. The second track begins with that same slow and harmonic way, but the feeling of My Dying Bride is fading away, which is a good thing I thing because there can only be one My Dying Bride! This is a band of their own. ”Out of this gloomy light” has a very evil scream at the begining and I´m glad to hear that the singer can growl and use the black metal vocals to. I wish for just slightly more black metal vocals because these growling and black metal vocals are a fine combination. I think it is very hard to put this band in their place but all those who like slow and harmonic music like My Dying Bride should like this I think. In ”Swallow (Horror Pt.1)” my wish came true, there is this woderful mix with growling and black metal vocals a fact! In ”Silence Of The Womb” there is a little slower part with piano and then the vocalist uses clear vocals with black metal screams way in the back. Also a glorious mix! Overall this is a good record from this group and I would buy it I think, so I recommend to buy it if you do not have it!
