REVIEW: Switchblade Suicide - Switchblade Suicide Suicide Strip Productions, 2008
8.5/10
Switchblade Suicide - Switchblade Suicide - cover art I fear this shall be a short one, not because the band is not worthy of a longer review, but due to the fact that their self titled debut is a slim three tracks long. So lets get on the gloves and dig in.

Switchblade Suicide hail from up New England way - Worcester, Mass., to be more on point - where, according to their fact sheet, they are all over the radio. And I believe it, that is if these three tunes are any indication of what these boys have in store for a full length.

The band have honed a great sound that is equal parts Sunset sleaze circa 1988 with an undertone of mid-nineties aggro-rawk and some balls out seventies arena sound.

Geoff's guitars slither and slide, JJ's bass skulks and bounces and Nick's drums hold it together, while Dennis shrieks and yowls with vocals that while suiting the sound may turn off a few.

"Stop Your Bitchin'" is a great rocker, catchy as herpes but without the lingering unpleasantness. "Live Fast, Die Young" is as eighties metal as an eighties metal song not written in the eighties could be. And the final nail, a sure footed stomper called "Rock 'N Roll."

If you like sweaty cock rock and swaggering sleaze, if you miss the days of RIP magazine when Blackie Lawless (W.A.S.P.) graced the cover, if you wanna "put the X in sex," then plunk down a few bucks and get this e.p. It's great dirty fun, without having to clean yourself up afterwards.
