With bandmembers alias such as Night, Inferno, Thunder or Whiplasher, ultra typical make up à la Immortal and wielding daggers and middle fingers as weapons on behalf of Satan their master, one couldn´t expect many good things from these guys, certainly. But to my surprise this miniCD wasn´t bad at all. It breathes Dissection from coast to coast, something more or less evident when one of the musicians involved in this project seems to be Jon Nødtveidt´s brother. And thus the music runs along those territories: black/death metal with a great melodic touch but without falling into cheesy lands. Three songs compose this “Wraths of time”, and the last one begins with a synth fragment that introduces us what seems to be an excerpt of the forthcoming full-length album. Well, the tracks presented here are mainly fast and far from being monotonous, with good melodies and a huge load of black metal feeling, but unfortunately production is rather fuzzy, despite this opus was recorded at well-known Studio Fredman. However, if you only dedicate two days to put your music on tape as the Swordmaster guys did then, there´s nothing strange in the fact that these songs sound as awful and unbalanced. That “time pressure” stuff can also be noticed in some drum fills and tempo changes that could have been more worked on with more dedication and hours at the studio. Apparently the next albums (which I´ve not listened) from this band were less black metal oriented and were more in the 80´s thrash metal vein. Conclusion: 14 minutes of black metal the Dissection way that will please you for a while if you feel nostalgia for that band.
