REVIEW: Tankard - The Beauty And The Beer AFM Records, 2006
8/10
Tankard - The Beauty And The Beer - cover art Frankfurt's cult thrash veterans Tankard have opened up their beer cans once again and produced another fine opus with the appropriate title "The Beauty And The Beer". Being the very definition of party thrash, these Germans have always delivered what is expected of them - high quality metal where intensity, attitude and alcohol are the most important keywords. Their 2006 album marks no exception from the rule, being composed of excellent old-school thrash metal in true Tankard style with a mighty production backing it up. No news, no pioneering material but that is now what we want from the band. Tankard have always stayed on the right track, not giving a rat's ass (or any other body part for that matter) about trends or showing a single sign of digressing from their own path. Tankard is a band that is going nowhere, like Bolt Thrower or Motörhead, but they never disappoint. If you still need more odes to the golden beverage that fuels the metal scene then buy it now. If only I were a beer lover I might have rated it even higher.
