REVIEW: Terrorama - Horrid Efface Nuclear War Now! Productions, 2004
8/10
Terrorama - Horrid Efface - cover art While the general development in the metal scene is more expensive productions, crystal clear and sterile recordings and an overall more commercial attitude due to the once again growing popularity of metal, there are those who still fight the trends. One of those bands is Sweden's Terrorama. They target a rather limited fan base with their old-school brand of blackened thrash metal but those who understand this type of music will know instantly that this is a well crafted album. The songs are tight and held together in a very nice way, the vocals are raw and vicious and the old-school Darkthrone production courtesy of Marduk's Magnus "Devo" Andersson is highly successful. In short this is black metal made for partying or just enjoying at home for its pure quality. This vinyl also comes with tasteful black and white cover art. It is difficult to pick any favorite song from the album but I think the title track "Horrid Efface" is definitely worth some praise. An interesting choice for a cover can also be found here as the Swedes have included their take on "Black Plague" from the 80s Bay Area thrashers Holy Terror. Nuclear War Now! has always been very selective and manages to unveil the hidden diamonds in the extreme metal underground. Once again they have succeeded and Terrorama is no doubt one of the most interesting bands today who still hold the flame of old-school black / thrash metal alive.
