REVIEW: The Blueprint - Ecliptic Copro Records, 2003
5.5/10
The Blueprint - Ecliptic - cover art The Blueprint was formed in the year 2000 and consists of former and current members of bands like Earthtone9, Pitchshifter and Consumed. Magazines like Rocksound and Kerrang took notice of the band and in 2002 they released their debut album "*Zero*Zero*One*". There are already hundreds of bands who try to mix pop tunes, hardcore and aggressive metal but The Blueprint still decided to give it a go. Signed to the British label Copro Records they have now recorded this new mini album together with the world famous producer Andy Sneap. The result is pretty good as they keep it melodic or aggressive but as soon as the "clean" vocals are put to use it only sounds annoying and all you wish for is that they could enlist a vocalist that could actually sing for real. The music is certainly enjoyable at times and I have no doubts about the instrumental skills within the band but the final result is not much more than decent. Recommended only to fans of melodic and aggressive metalcore. A little too monotonous and basic to really spark any interest in me. Stand-out tracks: "Sans Chorus", "International House Of Dirt".
