REVIEW: The Forsaken - Manifest Of Hate Century Media, 2001
8.5/10
The Forsaken - Manifest Of Hate - cover art The Forsaken is a new crushing death metal act from Sweden and definitely one to count with in the future. The band was first formed in 1997 as Septic Breed and now consists of Nicke Grabowski, Stefan Holm, Patrik Persson, Anders Sjöholm (Ominous, Massgrav) and MIchael Håkansson (Evergrey, Embraced). Being the debut album "Manifest Of Hate" is an amazing effort from the band and it is not surprising that they have been signed to Century Media, one of the leading metal labels in the world. If you miss the beautiful melodies from At The Gates (and who doesn´t?) prepare to find them again with The Forsaken together with a touch of Morbid Angel. The twin guitar work is often excellent and the growling vocals are well in line with the music. The album was recorded in September 2000 in the well-known Abyss Studios with Tommy Tägtgren who proclaimed them to be the best band he had ever recorded. Aggression, speed and devastating power are trademarks of The Forsaken but without neglecting melody and technical precision. 2001 promises to be a great metal year and this is only the beginning. A new giant is about to rise in the death metal world and The Forsaken will not be forgotten easily. Standout tracks would be "Deamon Breed", "Soulshade" and "Truth Of God".
