REVIEW: The Project Hate MCMXCIX - When We Are Done Your Flesh Will Be Ours Massacre Records, 2001
8/10
The Project Hate MCMXCIX - When We Are Done Your Flesh Will Be Ours - cover art Jörgen Sandström from Entombed is known to be working with a lot of different bands. Project Hate is one of the many bands he has lended has talents to over the years and this is their second album so far. His time with Entombed have obviously had a very big impact on his way of playing and therefore the music of Project Hate shows plenty of traces from his main band, especially as it comes to the guitar sound. Other than that The Project Hate is a little slower but still heavy and still more metal than most bands. The keyboards also play a very important role in backing up the guitar riffs and melodies. In fact I think the band would be sounding rather flat without them. The growling vocals are very well done but the clean female vocals I am not quite sure whether I like or not. They are not that strong but the female vocalist is still doing a good job with a dreamy and soft voice. The Project Hate is a band that will certainly grow to become a leading act in the world of metal because they are highly skilled musicians and they have found a new unique blend of symphonic death metal. They actually remind me a little of the Norwegian Trail Of Tears but their music is perhaps a little bit more deathy than gothic.
