Although "Dirty Pounding Gasoline" is a full-length studio debut album released via the Spanish label Locomotive Music now, in 2004, its creators are five German musicians which came together quite a long time ago... Formed back in 1992, The Shitheadz' current line-up consists of vocalist Christoph Birx, guitarists Guido Reuss and Andreas Peters, bass player Mark Neschen and drummer Oliver Beck. Together these guys have managed to give birth to a record that shall be remembered for its great sound quality, decent musicianship and catchy music, although... Yeah, despite of the vital metal'n'roll that pours out of "Dirty Pounding Gasoline", all twelve tracks (excluding the closing acoustic instrumental "Outro" and the compulsory epic semi-ballad "Burning") are quite one the same, namely a cliché-breed of hard rock and heavy metal, to put it short. Add to it a too big amount of audible late 90's Anthrax and Metallica influences (not just in the overall music landscape, but especially in Christoph's Hetfield-meets-Bush type of singing), plus straightforward rock'n'roll and a bit of early 90's Soundgarden-ish reminiscences, and you'll get the point. There's definitely some high potential in the audio-art of The Shitheadz, and (hopefully) it shall be fully revealed in the future. As for now, the lack of variety and especially of own ideas leaves not that positive impressions... Anyway, a promising start.
