This is a real pagan storm
from darkwoods of Serbia. Raw, savage, simple Black metal, full of anger and
pride is what’s Slovenska Krv (Slavic blood) all about. Eight songs, eight
individual cuts in the face of orthodox Serbian establishment. Eight hymns of
pagan Serbian nature and patriotism for uncorrupted leftovers of The Stone
homeland. This is second full length album for band and first under name of
The Stone; previously they were known as Stone to Flesh. Music is mostly
simple guitar riffing, but with good song structure and varying speed and
interesting melodies and vocal solutions. Although Slaovenska Krv is about
primal eruptions it doesn’t lack nothing in intelligence of composing or song
building. Musicians are very experienced which means that all instruments are
fitting each other well and are completely in service of general sound. Sound
of album is also raw and then it comes to your taste whether you’ll call it
adequate or bad. For me, sound should be a little clearer as some guitar
ornaments are lost and there’s too much bass in overall, but band definitely
wanted it this way. Also, material doesn’t deliver high speed drumming you
might expect from this kind of music. Of course, there are a lot of really
fast part, but its not record setting. Still, this is not necessary for this
material as The Stone said everything they wanted this way and have succeeded
to deliver us really good material. Hopefully, The Stone, together with May
Result, will open the door for Serbian scene to foreign fans and contribute in
integrating this pagan land into Black metal kingdom. Third full length album
is due at early 2004.
