REVIEW: Theatre Of The Macabre - A Paradise In Flesh & Blood Root Of All Evil Records, 2000
7/10
Theatre Of The Macabre - A Paradise In Flesh & Blood - cover art Theatre Of The Macabre is the new band from the talented American composer Le'Rue Delashay (Lorde Of All Desires) and Umbruskus from Demonicon. American black metal bands don't usually make me extremely excited but this was luckily a nice surprise to me. T.O.T.M. actually sound pretty interesting since they have found a very atmospheric but still dark and black metal sound, not that fast but a lot more stylish and melodic than the average band. The production could be better but it doesn't sound bad which is a good thing (I just had to play with the words although it didn't work out that well...). This is the debut album from the band but still it shows a lot more of maturity than usual due to the fact that these guys aren't exactly new to the American dark metal scene. This is not an invaluable masterpiece but if you like unconventional and atmospherical black metal you will probably want to check out this band becuase they do make quality music. "Enthroned In The Halls Of Martyrdom" is a beautifully composed song that deserves your attention among several others. There is a bit of an early Cradle feeling about this album but I guess that's ok. This band has got potential to grow for sure.
