Hoe. Lee. Crap. This is a lot, a lot, a lot of Therion. Four, count' em 1-2-3-4 DVDs plus 2 audio CDs. Whew, that would be a lot to take in at one time but Nuclear Blast has (thankfully) only provided a singular DVD (with one track corresponding to each DVD) for review purposes. Good enough, supposes this writer, already in the church of Therion. Having interviewed Mr. Christofer Johnsson not quite a year ago I was familiar with some of what this DVD package would contain. Here is what he had to say in September 2005 about this massive collection of coolness: "[This will be] the ultimate DVD, Therion collection. Everything should be in there that people want, [everything] that we have done so far. The only thing lacking is the orchestral show that I hoped that we would have done, but since we never pulled it off so far, it's obviously not there. But everything else is really there and it should be the most price worthy thing ever released." I reckon the live recordings on the DVD and CD portions of this set to be worth the price of admission alone. All the backstage, behind the scenes, and background/historical footage of the band is merely a lot of icing on the cake. If you've got some scratch to spare, shell out your hard earned, ill-gotten, or otherwise acquired money for this career spanning collective. On it you will find the last time Mr. Johnsson does vocals as he has since retired from that portion of the show to concentrate solely on the guitar. Therion is, simply put, majestic. Kudos for releasing the ultimate fan package.
