REVIEW: Thorium - Unleashing The Deamons Diehard Music, 2002
7/10
Thorium - Unleashing The Deamons - cover art Thorium is one of a few interesting extreme metal bands that Denmark has produced during the years. If brutal and intense metal is your thing then here is something for you. Brett Hoffman of Malevolent Creation is one of the persons who have been placed on the thanks list for this album and when you think about it they actually sometimes remind me of Malevolent Creation but Thorium are more sluggish with rawer vocals. The riffs and melodies are very similar at times though. Bands who have dedicated their collective skills to brutal death metal often tend to lack melody and variety (this does not mean that melody and variety is necessary to make a good band) but this is not the case with these Danish guys. The songs are well structured, the music is highly technical yet brutal and the vocals are very well done. I can't understand why the band recorded the album in Slovakia but the result is definitely satisfactory. Thorium is one of the bands who keep the Danish metal scene alive. Check this out if you are into melodic and brutal death metal.
