Was And Is To Come blends groove and thrash, and also has a hint of hardcore thrown in the mix with some of the riffs and parts of songs that sound near breakdowns, as well as some group chanting, which can be spotted right on the opening track "Voice Divides." There is also a Pantera influence, which can be heard on "Cast The Crown," as well as even some Demon Hunter, which can be heard on "Bloodwitness," just to name a few influences and their tracks. But, perhaps the ultimate question is whether or not this makes the album great, or causes it to fail.

Well, sadly, this album is basically nothing new or impressive. You jump from a blistering song to a handful of mid-tempo tracks that sound like they're simply filler cuts. Some songs do stand out and save the band, such as "Bloodwitness," "Reveal Resolution," and "Earth's Final Embrace" (perhaps the heaviest song on the release), but little can be done to save the album. Granted, there are some decent solos here, but they don't really sound like much. A little more complexity there, and basically all around musically, could have made the album a lot heavier then what it is, making this simply a rather mediocre start for this band.

To put it simply, if you listen to a lot of metal, this release will probably lead you to a ritualistic sacrifice in hopes of getting your hard earned money back. There's nothing really here that will blow you away. Sure there are a few tracks worth checking out, but it would be wiser to just borrow the CD from someone to check them out. But hey, if mid-tempo, rock-paced, groove-based thrash metal with hardcore overtones and a lack of originality is your thing, then by all means get on your knees and worship Jesus.
