REVIEW: Total Stranger - Obsession (2CD) Escape Music, 2001
8.5/10
Total Stranger - Obsession (2CD) - cover art Oh, this is easily one of the best Melodic Hard Rock / A.O.R albums that money can buy. Their label has made sure of just that by including their first release as a bonus disc. So this double CD is limited to 2000 copies that I am sure that will be sold in no time. So, don't delay at all in buying this album in this format as a double CD. I mean their debut album from the late nineties was a shout after item and it still sounds superb. It reminds me of Bon Jovi at their very best. So this album alone justifies the amount that you will spend on them. Add to this the great new songs that possess a wicked sense of songwriting and melody and you are left with no other option than to invest in this great release. Al Langlade (lead vocals, keys and acoustic guitar) and Andre Pelletier (Guitars & vocals) surely must be the talk of their little Canadian town ;-). Their crystal clear vocals are passionate and of a really high quality thus making the astounding layered harmonies appear even more impressive to my ears. It is also very impressive how much the band has evolved since the great but musically rather straightforward approach of the debut album. Their skills in composing and layering riffs and melodies have really impressive. Just buy this album, before it gets sold out.
