REVIEW: Toxic Virgin - Circle Of Power Self-financed, 2001
6.5/10
Toxic Virgin - Circle Of Power - cover art Toxic Virgin is a German hard rock band who come from the same town as the almighty Blind Guardian (that is Krefeld). The bans was formed in 1995 and since then they have recorded one EP and two full-length albums, including this one, and also reached the finals of the German Rock Musicians Awards more than once. When I listened to the first track of this new self-released album from the band I was very impressed. The vocals are great and the neoclassical guitar influences shine through clearly. However the next couple of tracks did not maintain my amazement at the same high level. The heavier and faster tracks are all great, a lot thanks to the strong vocals, and this is what Toxic Virgin should focus on, at least if they want to impress on me. The slower and softer ones sound close to horrible however but luckily there are more than these on the disc. No matter what Toxic Virgin is a band worth looking into if you like playful hard rock. Not just any band is given the chance to play together with main acts like Doro Pesch and Bonfire. Despite the fact that there are a couple of great tracks on this album ("Broken Wings", "Sailor" and "Waiting For The Rain") the album is a little too uneven to score high.
