I see Napalm Records
as a castle made of tremendously talented bands and many of them are real
Gothic treasures. So let me open the door of this magical castle and present
you a genuine jewel. For their second release with Napalm, Tristania is
offering a magnificent Gothic cathedral made of rich architectural desings,
decorated with beautiful paintings. To achieve this musical treat, they used
powerful choirs, perfect death vocals and Vibeke is such a great and angelic
diva that she'll bring you instantly in heaven. So many outstanding vocalists
on the same album. I'm stunned! The music is everything more than you can
expect. Strong guitars, great acoustic partitions, symphonic and majestic
arrangements. For me this is the most impressive Gothic album ever. A real
paradise opens up this journey with that superb choir unrolling the red carpet
and introducing the great diva. Let me go beyond the veil and show you some of
the beauties involved. "Lost" is an awesome Death metal piece with intricate
prog structure, gregorian chant, violin solo backed-up by heavy riffs.
Amazing composition! "Dead Locked" is a gorgeous ballad with acoustic guitar
and violin escorting a graceful singer. "Tender Trip On Earth" will kick you
right away with its heavy guitar, bass and drum trio only to tend you a gentle
hand made of melodic passage blending a sumptuous mixture of instruments and
vocals. To crown this tremendous musical adventure, the last composition
"Crushed Dreams" is a completely Avant-gardiste jewel with its ever changing
musical direction evolving around funny keyboards, tortured violin notes, a
very Prog-symphonic interlude and a marvellous choir making it a grandiose
finale ending on a sad note. Sad because it's the end... This is the most
beautiful Gothic _expression ever
achieved!
