Tsjuder was born in Norway in 1993, at the
time when the black metal scene in Norway "suffered" from church burnings,
murders and activities of their likes. All this did of course help the scene
since it gained much more attention than it would have otherwise and it also
inspired lots of kids dressed in black to begin playing black metal, no matter
if they were any good at it or not. Tsjuder were perhaps not very good when
they started out nine years ago but today they are one of the more interesting
bands that the Norwegian black metal scene has to offer, at least if we are
talking minimalistic, primal, raw black metal. Since the release of their
debut album "Kill For Satan" (wonderfully original name...) in the year 2000
they have decided to stick with the French underground label Drakkar
Productions for at least this album. The line-up is not the same as it was on
the last album though. Their drummer Anti-Christian suffered from an arm
injury and therefore he has been replaced by the Ragnarok drummer Jontho who
is doing a great job working his sweat out on this album. Tsjuder has no
intention of being modern, using female vocals or dreamy keyboard melodies.
They are dedicated to the old school and they do what they do best. If you
like the old Darkthrone albums but would like a little bit more speed and
think the Khold albums are too polished then Tsjuder is something for you.
They possess the speed of early Marduk but the song structures have more in
common with Norwegian bands like Darkthrone and early Mayhem. Stand-out
tracks: "Bloodshedding Horror", "A Twisted
Mind".
