Tualatin is an Atlanta based trio that features the former Malevolent Creation guitarist Jeff Juszkiewicz who is now also stretching his vocal chords. This is however very different from the furious yet well structured death metal of Malevolent Creation. Instead we have here slow, heavy, groovy tunes influenced by mid-period Slayer, Sleep and the sludgecore of EyeHateGod. The vocals consist mostly of semi-clean shouts but unfortunately they are rather unpersonal and don't offer the listener much excitement. The music however is slightly more interesting, especially to sludgecore fans. While the guitar riffs are quite enjoyable and the song writing acceptable what impress me the most are the bass lines from former Autophobia member Dave Whitworth. A decent demo but the band still has some work to do before reaching the top and I believe that adding a stronger vocal personality would be a good first step in the right direction.
