REVIEW: Twilight Ophera - Midnight Horror Cacophonous Records, 1999
6.5/10
Twilight Ophera - Midnight Horror - cover art The Finnish band Twilight Ophera plays extremely fast black horror metal with some melodic influences from bands like King Diamond/Mercyful Fate. The album has it's good moments - some nice guitar and keyboard melodies - but it is still lacking a little originality and energy and sometimes the deep growling vocals tend to be a little annoying. However, the production of this album is really great and the music is full of energy and great riffing at times. This Finnish band knows how to produce high quality metal influenced by symphonic black metal bands like Dimmu Borgir and Emperor. Hopefully the young band will grow and develop until their next album. Something I like with this album is that it is decorated with some nice BDSM inspired pictures :). The album was recorded and mixed at Astia-studio, Lappeenranta, Finland with engineers Jassi Jaahiainen and Anssi Kippo.
