I really have no idea from where it comes, but here we have another melodic power metal band from Finland with talents that only very few bands have. Their style impressed me from the first time I listened to their debut "Delirium Veil". This is indeed a very strong debut album which was
recorded at Astia Studios by Anssi Kippi, mixed at Finnvox Studios by Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius) himself and mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila. It couldn't be better since the production with such a team has to be as good as perfect. Of course it is very hard for Finnish power metal bands to get a high reputation as long as there are big bands like Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica, but nevertheless Twilightning have the best conditions for this. Being signed to Spinefarm, one of the biggest record companies in Finland, is perhaps the first step to become one of the big northern power metal bands. And the "Delirium Veil" album is strong indeed as you can already hear in "Gone To The Wall". A killer track and an opener that shows everything the band has to give. Amazing guitar work, strong clean vocals and of course the keyboards which are an essential melodic element of this album. Vocalist Heikki Pöyhä has an amazing voice that sounds like a mix of James LaBrie (Dream Theater) and David Readman (Pink Cream 69) sometimes (listen to "Return To Innocence"). Another fantasic melodic track is "At The Forge" which shows the awesome
guitar work that has impressed me throughout this album. With their debut Twilightning show that they are on their way to the top of the Finnish power metal bands and they truly have the best conditions. If they work like this on their next album and write more of these killer tracks it should be easy for them to find their own style since all of them are talented young musicians with a big future.
