REVIEW: Twopointeight - Twopointeight Muse Entity Records, 2005
7.5/10
Twopointeight - Twopointeight - cover art Things have been going kind of slow for Stockholm based TWOPOINTEIGHT with members leaving and recordings that have never been released. But third time’s a charm so here is their first full-length at last. Recorded in six days and released at Muse Entity Records, it is hard to describe TWOPOINTEIGHT’s self titled album without mentioning Rancid. Although since Rancid have been worse over the years TWOPOINTEIGHT are probably better than them nowadays. The sound on the record also has a touch of Randy, not surprising as Randy’s bassist Johan Gustavsson have been producing it. First track ‘Red Eye’ has been released as a single and is avalible on the record as a music video. But it is in tracks with higher tempo that the band are at their best. Brilliant ‘One Foot In The Grave’ and energetic ‘555’ are highlights. Slower ‘Lay Down On The Ground’ makes one think of Weeping Willows but is still a good song. TWOPOINTEIGHT is by far the most interesting band in the Swedish punk scene at the moment. This is a very good debute and you can tell that this band have been playing for a while. Let’s hope that they keep it up many years to come and that next album will be even better.
