One of the founding fathers of European styled heavy metal is now back with a new album. Together with his former band mate from Accept, guitarist Stefan Kaufmann, he has produced another strong contribution to the world of metal. The rest of the line-up is made up of guitarist Igor Gianola, drummer Lorenzo Milani and bassist Fitty Wienhold who was in another 80s heavy metal band called Bullet which some of you older fans may remember. Some may think it is pathetic to cling on to heavy metal when you reach the age that U.D.O. now is in but I think it is very good to hear that you can produce high quality metal even though you are not 20 years old. "Thunderball" consists of nothing but classic heavy metal the way it was meant to be. The riffs are simple yet powerful and there is the right amount of well placed solos. On top of this you can add the characteristic voice of U.D.O. himself. Together with Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson he is one of the true warriors of heavy metal. These guys have never let go of the music they were put on this Earth to create even though Ozzy has become a victim of his somewhat unhealthy habits. If you love any of the old bands who made the European heavy metal scene then the new U.D.O. album will not disappoint you. This old man rocks!
