Century Media must have quite a special relationship to the Swedish death metal veterans Unleashed as they have supported them way back since 1991 when their stellar debut album "Where No Life Dwells" was released through the label. Fans of old-school Swedish death metal á la Grave, Dismember and Entombed were probably very glad when Unleashed returned in 2002 with the solid release "Hell's Unleashed" after five years of silence. Even though that album was not the best they've accomplished in their career it was nevertheless the mark of a new chapter in the band's history. The new album is called "Sworn Allegiance" and is the 7th full-length release so far from the band who now celebrates 15 years of existence. This time Unleashed show a faster and more intense side of themselves with the most extreme example being the sub two minutes track "Attack!" which has a very strong Slayer vibe as do several of the other songs on this album. Other songs have a more typical semi-thrashy Unleashed fingerprint, for example "Bring You Death" which takes the listener right back to their golden age in the early 90s when they were one of the leaders of the early Swedish death metal movement. There are few examples of technical brilliance here but if you want to feel a bit sentimental then go with the flow and get yourself a copy of "Sworn Allegiance". No matter what, this band helped create metal history over ten years ago.
