Urkraft's sophomore release has been pushed as far as it could be pushed at this point. With heavy promotion from Earache, their golden children's latest release, The Inhuman Aberration, is upon us.
Well, there really isn't much to say about this release. For what it is, it's pretty good. But what it is, unfortunately, is just another At The Gates sounded clone. The band seems to pull a lot from the material from the closing of ATG's career. The only real differences are the vocals, some of the songs are a little more harsher, and some keyboards that appear randomly through the songs.
While the keyboards appear randomly, most of the time they fit the song perfectly, such as on the title track. While the vocals are deeper then their inspiration's vocalist, sometimes they get close enough that you can notice the similarities. But some of the songs on this release, though not so original, do still kick hard, such as "The Great Summer" and "Liberation".
But, sadly, even though the band does what it does well, it's just another band that sounds like a band that helped start it all. So if you are a die hard At The Gates fan, you'll have to choose your side: whether you don't care if they sound similar, or if they should be hanged for such an act. All in all, The Inhuman Aberration is tight, well produced, and does sound great for what it is, however it sounds generic a good amount of time.
