Very exotic name, Utuk Xul, isn’t it? Most new bands have boring, unoriginal names now, but on the other hand, Utuk Xul is not a new band, they exist since about a decade now, although they only have one full-length album. The album starts with an original recording of Anton Szandor Lavey performing a ritual and so it ends. Sounds in-between are also sounding as if they emerged from one of the inner circles of hell. Savage, barbaric, noisy, hateful, a bit chaotic… Major part of this is achieved through manipulation with sound engineering, sometimes it’s very hard to follow what the guitars are actually playing and there are some very good riffs behind this veil of noise. I have not noticed some slow moments in songs, mostly it’s relentless attack. And that is not so appealing to me, 'cause of all speed, production created noise sometimes it tires me and I kind of lose a step with material. But, if you like very raw European BM like Bilskirnir, Inferno or something similar, then maybe you will not have such problems. The band mentions that they are planning a European tour later this year, so all interested should pay attention.
