VLE is a solo project driven by experimentalism and improvisation. Inspired by the forces of nature and the beauty of the few segments of our innocent Earth unharmed by human exploitation this man composes atmospheric music not made for everyone. I was not too impressed with the first chapter in the "Book Of Illusion" series but now when we reach the third chapter things are getting more interesting. The songs fuse together and appear to be more coherent this time around which is a good thing. VLE is not music made for banging heads. Instead it is suitable for contemplation and the most spiritual and pure moments in life. A candle burning in the dark, a waterfall surrounded by a thin mist and the clear sky, it is a musical expression for all emotions and opposites in life. While there are many calm, emotional sections where light and beauty take us to warm and comfortable places from our youth there is also harsh noise filled with pain, chaos and dissonance. One cannot achieve greatness if not ruled by illusion. This is the book of illusions but also of emotions and visions realized by one man alone. Those of you who have no idea what I am talking about are probably many but as I previously mentioned this is not for everyone. If you are adventurous and want to experience something out of the ordinary give VLE a chance. Some acoustic drums on the opening track were played by Michael Molina, other than that it is the work of one man - the VLE. The album is graced with a beautiful painting by Christophe Vacher. The third chapter is a pretty nice experience but it's not the best the genre has to offer. There is simply not enough going on to make it stand out.
