REVIEW: Vader - The Art Of War Candlelight Records, 2006
8/10
Vader - The Art Of War - cover art In traditional Vader fashion, here is another EP release, the band's Candlelight Records debut, to tide us over until their next full length is unleashed. I'd guess that if you waited several months this release might be packaged with another EP (or perhaps album) as a 2-on-1 release as this has been done before. Regardless, this is signature Vader, blistering and merciless. Mostly gone are the mid- to slow tempo songs of The Beast and Revelations before it. "Extensive" use of lead in tracks are found here, mainly the Dimmu Borgir sounding album intro "Para Bellum" and the Bolt Thrower-esque mid-EP bit "Banners on the Wind." If you must possess all of the mighty Vader's tremendous back catalog, you should snatch this up in no time. Although only 4 real songs are here (and two versions of a pretty cool video for the title track showing a sort of Terminator future war with robots and things akin to the huge, human-helmed, machine fighters from The Matrix; one version is just the song and the other has battle sound effects), they are killer. This is nothing unexpected from Poland's favorite and most famous Metal sons, but definitely a high quality release.
