There have been a lot of resurrections the last couple of years but believe me or not when I say that Cronos and his rolling r's are really worthy of another chance. Even though the title of track No 13 might suggest a certain lack of creativity this new Venom album is far, far from being just another shot in the dark. They have perhaps lost a little bit of the initial aggression and passion but they still have the skills and the power needed to create yet another masterpiece of the blackest of musical art. If you are not a black metal fan then there is no need to worry either because the music is far from the black metal sound of old Venom. The black flame is still alive within these three modern warriors and with killer songs like "All There Is Fear", "Pain" and "Firelight", Venom prove to the ones who ever doubted that they are one of the most talented metal bands in the world. I have to admit though that they no longer hold the throne of black metal. Once again the legions of the dark lord step out of the shadows to conquer the world and "Resurrection" is undoubtedly worthy of a place in your record collection, especially with a great production job from master magician Charlie Bauerfiend (Blind Guardian a.o.). The album was recorded and mixed at Karo Musik Studios in Germany. Even though this is a great album I don't really understand the meaning of putting the lyrics in a different order than the tracklist in the cd booklet...
