REVIEW: Vesperian Sorrow - Psychotic Sculpture Displeased Records, 2001
3.5/10
Vesperian Sorrow - Psychotic Sculpture - cover art Ah, these days it is sad to hear the bands that so obviously have stagnated while the rest of the scene has moved forward. Vesperian Sorrow from Holland is such a case, as a few years ago, these boys could have done well with their symphonic black metal. It is well recorded and also well played, but the problem is the clinical genre-choice they make, with a type of symphonic black metal that made it quite well for everyone a few years back. Now it is just another release on the market, and I can't think of anyone that will sacrifice a dollar for this band unfortunately. "Psychotic Sculpture" is the band's 2nd album and I have the feeling that it might stop here unless they try to develop their sound a little, because this is a flop release that neither I will remember when tomorrow comes...
