REVIEW: Vile - Depopulate Listenable Records, 2002
7.5/10
Vile - Depopulate - cover art Vile is by many considered to be the new hope for brutal death metal in the Bay Area of California, USA, an area with proud metal traditions to live up to. Their self-produced debut album sold more than 2500 copies without any distribution at all and they have now signed a deal with Listenable Records (Unique Leader for the American continent) to release their official label debut "Depopulate". They were about to sign a deal with Relapse Records but I don't know what happened with that. This album howevercontains thirty minutes of music that will hit you in the face from the very first track. Vile perform ultra-brutal death metal with powerful yet guttural growling and grinding riffs with carefully crafted songs that should be of interest to all fans of Deicide, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse. There are nowadays young bands who are hungry and full of desire to show the world that they are as capable as these legendary giants when it comes to performing brutal death metal full of energy, grinding guitars and blasting drums. Vile is one of the more promising newcomers on the scene and they hereby invite you to take this half hour deathtrip together with them.
