When half of the bands on the Swedish metal
scene have dedicated themselves to the melodic side of death metal and the
other half is doing their best to get on the power metal train to fame and
fortune there are still some who dare to defy the trends. Visceral Bleeding
from Kalmar on the Swedish East coast is one of these bands. They formed in
the late 90's by Peter Persson and Niklas Dewerud (he left the band after the
recording of the album for the bass position in Spawn Of Possession) to create
something that the Swedish metal scene was in lack of - brutal death metal
performed with technical skills. After having listened through this debut
album of their's I can only tell you that they have succeeded in their
mission. They are of course not perfect yet but this album will certainly not
disappoint those of you who think Suffocation, Deeds Of Flesh and Monstrosity
are some of the best bands that us inhabitants on Earth have had the pleasure
of enjoying. Each and every song is extremely intense with a powerful drumming
performance and soaring guitar riffs that always changes. These guys handle
their instruments with ease and it is a pure pleasure to hear them play. It is
not hard to tell that they really like what they do and this album is brutal,
tight, technical and playful at the same time. Most important, the album never
gets boring and that takes some skill. It is however hard to believe that they
have only been playing together for three or four years. Visceral Bleeding is
certainly one of the most promising Swedish bands on the brutal side of death
metal.
