The debut album from Sweden's Visceral Bleeding was very well received and now they return with the follow-up "Transcend Into Ferocity". They have left the UK label Retribute Records and signed a new deal with the young Dutch label Neurotic Records. For those who have heard their first album there will be no surprises here. It's still the same tight and brutal death metal with technical twists and turns that made their debut stand out as one of the finest Swedish releases in the genre. Most Swedish death metal bands have chosen the more melodic path today and there are very few high quality bands in the brutal school. Visceral Bleeding is one of them though and fans of Monstrosity and Suffocation should find it easy to digest this album I think. The label wants people to believe that their take on death metal is "innovative" but that's not really the truth. I would rather call it "creative" as Visceral Bleeding is not a unique band. Except for the nine new tracks everyone who buys the album will also get the chance to see them live as a video clip of "Fury Unleashed" has been included. Well produced and performed with precision, I think this will be one of the highlights of 2004 for many fans of brutal and technical death metal who don't mind lots of tempo changes. Another step in the right direction for one of the most interesting Swedish bands at the moment.
