REVIEW: Vomination - Yog-Sothoth Self-financed, 2005
7/10
Vomination - Yog-Sothoth - cover art This is first demo of Swedish Vomination, a new Brutal Death act on the scene. It has only three songs, so I guess there’s more to this band than what one can hear here. It blasts off in a really great style, so dominant, with the first song "A Cold Wind of Sorrow". Powerful in the US style and brutal acts such as old Pyrexia and some other old masters of down tuned grinding death. It has both growl and screaming vocals, not frenetical ones as some grind acts use to have, but more controlled type. Still, song has some weaker parts where my attention knew to be not so focused. Next song is similar to previous, some good and some bad parts, while in third I got bored with frequent changes of rhythm. Overall, three songs, although standard choice for demos, is not enough for a detailed info on band, yet might offer some insight. Vomination’ version of brutal Death Metal is nothing new, yet may be quite enjoyable for followers of genre. Production requires many holes in sound to be fixed for further enhancement of material. Still, scene is better with this release then without it.
