Warhammer are a German band paying tribute to the music made by immortal classics Hellhammer and Celtic Frost. That´s something pretty evident when you take a look to the logo, cover art and hear just some seconds of the music. The concept of music should be very broad to include Warhammer on its range, for these blokes are missing the whole thing, the real thing, the focus of music. First of all I must announce my scorn towards tribute bands who are just able to play cover songs and have missed the creativity. Ok, Warhammer aren´t a tribute band, that´s true, but it´s still worse, they try to make music similar to the aforementioned references. It´s not “inspired” or “influenced”: this act is plainly imitating their idols, shamefully I´d say. The same hints, gestures, stances, guitar effects, type of vocals, simple skills, etc. Everything in this album tries to depict a modern version of Hellhammer, as if these guys were wondering about what kind of music would Hellhammer play if they haven´t disbanded more than twenty years ago, or something like that. In fact, the same as their masters, the music is simple, the riffs are easy, but darn, the spirit is absolutely zero here. While Hellhammer were immature kids creating an ugly monster which would subsequently spawn several evil bands around the globe inspired by their sonic maliciousness, Warhammer is pure bufoonery made music. The riffs are stupid and dead simple, there are no highlights, the lack of taste is quite clear, until the point that this album becomes a noisy dull collection of songs. This is the most pathetic thing I´ve heard in ages. And the most incredible thing, they seem to sell albums! What an immense rip off. What is the goal of this band? I don´t know. If they want to make their music, why overpopulate the scene with this shameful release? This is junk, a lack of respect towards the myths. Hellhammer don´t deserve this kind of heartless homages just for the money. C-R-A-P.
