REVIEW: Watchmaker - Erased From The Memory Of Man Willowtip Records, 2005
8/10
Watchmaker - Erased From The Memory Of Man - cover art From the same stomping grounds as the legendary Anal Cunt, or A.C. if you're sensitive about such, come Willowtip's warriors in Watchmaker. It is worth mentioning right off the bat that the band members are credited in the liner notes thusly: "Michael Garret - Yearning Flame of Drum Turret, Paul Vaughan - Ghetto Fucking Bee Keeper, Brian Livoti - Vocal Fucking Sawblade Terror, Nick Kirlis - Rick and Fucking Backer, Mark York - Drunken Thrash Attack." I say "Comedy, sirs." That aside, these sickos play a brand of Grindcore that stumbles headlong into the same noise infested attack of Seth Putnam's revolving band of lunatics, right down to the vocals and feedback. Here, however, there is no tongue-in-cheek attitude or comedic song titles, etc. No, the tongue has been bitten off in a fit of madness fueled by anger and relentless grinding guitars and abusive drums. If you like Grind, you've gotta check out Beantown's wicked awesome finest. There's a reason Willowtip signed 'em, don'tcha know? Sick, sick, sick. And that's a good thing.
