Winter Sorrow is Polish young one man pagan black metal horde from Pomerania. "Leśne Uroczysko" ("Forest's Sacred Spot") is his second, after "Niszczyciel w Mej Prawicy" ("Destroyer In My Right Hand"), release. The debut demo was strongly influenced by such bands as Burzum and Kampfar, raw black metal with symphonic and folk elements. This EP contains two new songs: "Unbrided Fury Of Winter Frost" and "Wilcza Pieśń Smutku" ("Wolf's Song Of Sadness") and the Burzum cover "Beholding The Daughters Of The Firnament". Today's music of Winter Sorrow is much more raw and cold than the earlier. There are no keyboards on this album and that's good, I prefer when black metal is black metal, not disco. Neither of the tracks are extremely fast, but they're not gloomy slow metal either. The Burzum cover is played well, you shouldn't wait for any good or bad surprise as it's not very far from the original version. The vocals are grim and black-ish, as many other pagan black metal bands. Winter Sorrow is definitely for those who are interested in pagan black metal from Poland and who still keep the flame of the ancient beliefs.
