REVIEW: Without Face - Deep Inside Dark Symphonies, 2001
7.5/10
Without Face - Deep Inside - cover art The Hungarian band Without Face was formed in 1997 and their debut album "Deep Inside" was released in June 2000 but without the support of a label. Now they have been signed to the American avantgarde metal label Dark Symphonies and the re-release of "Deep Inside" was realized. This is a young band with a very peculiar sound. Fans of gothic metal will probably enjoy this album but it is different from most other releases within this genre. The band features two vocalists, one strong female who sounds like a mix of Liv Kristine from Theatre Of Tragedy and Christina from Lacuna Coil, and one male from a guy called Andras who sometimes sings with a clean voice, sometimes growls and sometimes screams. The vocals from Andras doesn't always sound that good but it is the duet singing between him and the female vocalist Juliette that makes this band sound so good at times. The music accompanying these two singing birds is made up of both emotional mellow metal and more aggressive parts, showing influences from many different sides of modern music. Dark Symphonies are very good at finding unconventional metal bands who often have very unique vocal arrangements and they have once again made a successful signing.
