REVIEW: World Of Shit - World Of Shit Self-financed, 2002
7/10
World Of Shit - World Of Shit - cover art Here we have a two-piece Death Metal outfit that grinds away into the night. Or at least ~12 minutes into the night, that is. Mat plays drums and adds vocals. Eric plays guitar and bass and supplies additional vocals. The guitar is the main component of this band, although the drums are not poorly done at all. The vocals are of the ultra-guttural Suffocation variety and the rhythm and lead guitars borrow heavily from the swamped out sound of Morbid Angel. There is also more than a hint of Incantation in here, but none of the slow stuff. Sounds good, does it not? Yes, it does. Eric lives in Chicago, Illinois, USA while Mat is in Berlin, Germany. This does not stop them from getting together "for about 2 months every year [where they] jam and shit out a demo." This appears to be a labor of love or just a fun thing for a couple of friends to do. It is not the most original thing in the world, but it is very well done, especially for two people, and particularly since it is a sort of demo. If they are actively searching for a label, this should definitely give them some attention. If you like Morbid Angel, Suffocation, and Incantation you would most likely enjoy this, but I do not think they play live given their continental divide, and I do not know that this is otherwise available. E-mail the band if this interests you. FYI, Eric also plays in Morgue Supplier, a Chicago-based Grind band.
