REVIEW: Ywolf - Trilogy Of The Night Adipocere Records, 2002
6.5/10
Ywolf - Trilogy Of The Night - cover art Ywolf is the solo project by Hungarian citizen Gabriel Wolf. This is more or less a concept album about the opposites in life and the borderline between good and evil, beauty and horror, pleasure and pain. Musically this is yet another good darkwave release from Adipocere whose releases are generally of somewhat varied quality. The vocals by Gabriel himself changes from clean and dramatic to distorted hisses. He is sometimes accompanied by a nice female voice in the name of Stephanie Kiss who is helping him out on this album. Gabriel is apparently very fascinated with the good vs. evil concept just like thousands of other musicians, authors and philosophers have been throughout the whole existence of humanity. That was the way religions formed in the first place. For the most part this album sounds good but in the end it becomes a little bit too much. There is very little variety which is something needed in every genre there is. It is a good start for the Ywolf project though.
